The state will be significantly involved in the funeral service.
He also stated that he hosted the family of the celebrated revolutionary at Harambee House on Friday on President William Ruto’s orders.
“In consultation with the family, we have agreed that the funeral service will be held on Saturday at her home in Njabini, Nyandarua County. President Ruto will lead the government during the service,” the DP said in a statement.
The DP also said that Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo will chair the national funeral committee responsible for organizing Mukami’s funeral. At the county level, Nyandarua Governor Moses Ndirangu will lead a similar committee.
Mukami, the wife of renowned freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi, passed away on Thursday night at a city hospital at the age of 101.
She had been in and out of hospital since January 5th when she was admitted to a local health facility after exhibiting symptoms of pneumonia.
She was discharged on January 12th after President William Ruto cleared her Ksh. 1 million bill that prevented her from leaving the hospital.
